Regarding the Fuel Protests at Puerto Rican ports, similar disruptions have been occurring for the last month at ports in Vancouver, Canada.

Local businesses and others are unable to access cargos, and impacts are beginning to ripple through the local economy.

The National Post newspaper here in Canada reported rotating blackouts in Ottawa on June 27th - "Ottawa Hydro was forced to implement rotating blackouts from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to deal with a surge in demand, leaving at times 7,300 homes in Ottawa without power. People watched air conditioners, fans and stoves shut down for 15 minutes every half hour for more than 90 minutes."

The Independent Electricity Market Operator here in Ontario also released a ten year outlook which stated in black and white terms that Toronto would be faced with rotating blackouts in two or three years. This is the government agency responsible for managing the grid. Basically unless Toronto locates more power generation within its borders IMMEDIATELY, or majorly upgrade transmission lines into the city very quickly...it's going to be rotating blackouts.

Finally, a transformer DID blow last week, leaving the whole east side of downtown Toronto in a blackout for more than 12 hours. It was a block from my apartment - I saw it with my own eyes.

As someone who used to work for the Ontario Ministry of Energy, we are in really deep, serious trouble here in my hometown.
